What's in the workbook
- All 99 articles with their official titles, grouped across the eleven chapters — from Article 1 (subject-matter) to Article 99 (entry into force).
- A plain-language "what it covers" note on the articles that carry practical obligations, written for orientation rather than as legal advice.
- A "key for small business" flag you can filter on, marking the roughly thirty articles where small organizations actually spend their time — lawful basis (Art. 6), privacy notices (Art. 13–14), subject access (Art. 15), the ROPA (Art. 30), security (Art. 32), breach notification (Art. 33–34) and DPIAs (Art. 35).

The official text of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on EUR-Lex sets out 173 numbered recitals before Article 1. Recitals are not articles, so the workbook does not list them.
How to use it
- Filter the "key for small business" column to Yes and start there — the full 99 is a reference, not a to-do list.
- Set a status and an owner for each of those articles.
- Record where the evidence lives, because that is what an auditor or regulator asks for first.
- Revisit whenever you add a processing activity, a vendor, or a new country.

- The GDPR articles Excel file has two sheets. "GDPR Articles" has one row for each of the 99 articles and eight columns: Chapter, Article, Title, What it covers, Key for small business, Your status, Owner, and Evidence / notes. Your status is a drop-down with four choices: Not started, In progress, In place and Not applicable. Every column has a filter, and 34 rows are marked Yes in the Key for small business column. The "About" sheet explains how to use the file and its limits.

Article numbers, titles and the chapter structure are the text of the Regulation itself. The summaries and the small-business flag are our editorial judgment, offered for orientation — they are not legal advice and not a substitute for reading the article. Filling in this workbook does not make an organization GDPR compliant; compliance comes from operating the practices the Regulation describes. Check your own circumstances with a qualified adviser.
